The Dutch National Growth Fund has granted the NXTGEN Hightech program, in which Nextkidney participates as part of the Artificial Organs Project in the Biomedical Production Technology Domain.
Within this project, Nextkidney will define, optimize, and scale up the production of immobilized urease and zirconium ion exchangers, which will lead to cost-efficient production strategies for its sorbent technology. The sorbent technology enables Nextkidney to develop a portable hemodialysis device that offers full treatment to patients with merely 5L of dialysis fluids. In addition, a sorbent cartridge assembly line will be developed to scale up production against 2028.
