1. Role Summary

As a (Junior) Process Engineer, you will support the development, optimization, and validation of processes for Urease Extraction from Jack Bean and subsequent enzyme Immobilization onto carrier materials used in solvent cartridges. The role involves hands-on work in pilot and production environments, focusing on liquid–solid separation, enzyme handling, and process documentation within a regulated (ISO 13485 / GMP) framework.(

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Process Development & Optimization
  • Support the design, scale-up, and optimization of urease extraction and immobilization processes.
  • Support pilot-scale trials and production involving extraction, decanting, microfiltration, centrifugation, and immobilization reactions.
  • Support process troubleshooting and root-cause analyses for deviations or yield/quality issues.
2.2 Equipment & Commissioning
  • Issue and update process documentation including Process Descriptions, Task Risk Analyses (TRA), Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Batch Records.
  • Assist in commissioning and validation of new process lines or utilities.
2.3 Quality & Documentation
  • Support equipment specification, qualification, and start-up (decanters, centrifuges, filtration units, reactors, dryers).
2.4 Production Support
  • Provide on-floor support during production and cleaning operations.
  • Monitor key process parameters and identify deviations from specifications.
2.5 Reporting
  • Contribute to design and validation reports (e.g., DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ summaries).
  • Support preparation of process documentation.

3. Qualifications

  • MBO+ or BSc in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
  • 0–3 years of experience in enzyme, or food technology industry.
  • Knowledge of unit operations such as mixing, filtration, centrifugation, and enzyme immobilization preferred.
  • Familiarity with GMP, ISO 13485, or similar quality systems.
  • Hands-on and proactive, with attention to detail and safety.
  • Good communication skills in English and Dutch.
